Biking in Noordwijk
It is one of the most heart-warming things to see people smiling on their bikes so carefree. People of all ages are biking in the Netherlands, proving that it is the best activity to do also here in Noordwijk. The bike roads are of no comparison. You can join the fun with this easy bike guide.
Renting a bike
Renting a bike is very easy, as there are many rental bike shops near our hostel.
- HaHa Rental Bikes: A very friendly old couple will welcome you to the shop with a big variety of bikes (not e-bikes though) for every height. The rental only costs 10€ per day and it is the cheapest we have found in Noordwjik.
- Fietsen Verhuur Noordwijk: If you want an e-bike this is the place. It also has a site you can book from with rates from 27.50€ per day.
- Renting through apps: You can also rent a bike from apps like Donkey, wherever you are, whatever time it is. When you are finished you just have to park it in a place that the app will indicate to you.
- If you’re staying for a bit longer, check if Swapfiets would be the most convenient for you.
Places to go
There are many places to explore in and around Noordwijk and we have collected here our top three.
Dunes

Our favourite are the Dunes. Either you go the north or to the south there are the beautiful sand Dunes of Noordwijk. A beautiful blend of forest, sea and desert await you there. Seeing as far as eye can see is a healing experience especially if you’ve been in the city for too long.
The dunes are also a great place to admire the sky from, with beautiful fast moving clouds. Inside, roam free deers, rabbits, foxes and other small animals. Going to the Dunes during the night is also a very nice and unique experience. There is no light and you can only see with your bike’s lights, a vast dark unknown surrounding you.

Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen

Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen is a protecetd natural monument located about 10km from our hostel. It’s a vital source of drinking water for Amsterdam, providing around 66% of the city’s supply. It offers a variety of walking trails, diverse wildlife, and stunning scenery, just leave your bike on the designated parking in one of the many entrances.
Leiden
About an hour from our hostel. On the way there you can see the beautiful nature, graphic old houses, water canals, alpacas and other animals. Then you can roam around the city and explore.
