Q&A

What made you want to travel?

“Kai went on a trip to Europe with his parents, who also travelled a lot in their lives. We thought it would be nice to go back and enjoy the experience together. It’s the best break from work one could imagine.”

Where has been your favourite place in Europe?

Errol: “I had the best time in France, we stayed in a small town called Ouistreham in the region of Normandy. It’s such a soothing place, I remember waking up at my rythm and enjoy a croissant for breakfast, no better way to start the day.”

Kai: “I would say Berlin, Germany. I spent 4 months there last summer and loved the people. It’s a very social city, amazing to party too.”

Ella: “We’ve been in a lot of nice places, nothing really stood out to me yet but Europe is big and we still have a lot of places to discover!”

What is your ideal dorm size?

“Ideally, we prefer being in a room just big enough to accommodate all of us (three or four beds). It allows for late night discussions and feels comfier and safer.”

What has been the best thing you’ve eaten?

“It feels wrong to not mention traditional french food, but we do not exaggerate when we say that, we had the best pizza ever in a local restaurant of Ouistreham. Oh, and of course the infamous Dutch bitterballen!”

What is your favourite thing about the Pig?

“The Pig genuinely feels like a second-home. Noordwijk is really nice and different from Amsterdam in the best way possible. It’s relaxing and tranquil while still being highly social. It’s the best place we’ve stayed at on our trip so far!”

How do you like to travel?

“We usually go for the cheapest means of transportations, like the train. The Netherlands is very accessible by train, which is a change from our hometown where only big cities have good transports. You don’t spend much money and can still enjoy the view through the windows.”

What is one piece of advice for people wanting to travel?

Slow down and take everything in. Go for the 45 minutes walk instead of the 10 minutes ride. Take a deep breath and observe nature, architecture, and immerse yourself in the moment. Acquire the patience that will allow you to spend the next hours to look for a public bathroom, because it might be a while!”
